A U.S. buyer took delivery of a Ford Mustang GTD after a seven-month wait, finished in a color more commonly associated with Porsche. The unusual request highlights both the level of customization now offered in the supercar segment and an underlying rivalry between high-performance models.

Ordering a Mustang GTD already places buyers in a niche category, with a starting price of around $330,000 and a development program aimed at track performance, particularly at the Nürburgring. In this case, the client went further by requesting a specific shade from another manufacturer’s catalog.

A Porsche Color Adapted To The Mustang GTD

According to Autoevolution, the car belongs to Pejman Ghadimi, an entrepreneur and author who has built a collection including a Porsche 911 GT3 RS and a Mercedes-AMG GT. Both are finished in the same distinctive pink tone, a choice intended to standardize appearance across his vehicles and focus comparisons on driving experience.

The selected shade, Ruby Star Neo, was introduced by Porsche in late 2022 for the 911 (992) and 718 models. The vivid magenta finish, slightly darker than the earlier Rubystone tone from the 1990s, is known for its strong visual impact.

Applied to the Mustang GTD, the color creates a contrast between European sports car aesthetics and American muscle car proportions. Ford’s customization program allows clients to request a wide range of finishes, including colors typically associated with other brands.

Porsche’s “Paint to Sample” options can range from $4,220 to $12,830, while Ford integrates similar flexibility into its bespoke GTD offering. Ghadimi described the color as one of his personal favorites, underscoring the subjective nature of such decisions.

Track-focused Engineering Beneath A Distinctive Exterior

Beyond its appearance, the Mustang GTD remains engineered for performance. It is equipped with a supercharged 5.2-liter V8 producing 815 horsepower and 664 lb-ft of torque, equivalent to roughly 900 Nm.

The model is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds, completing the quarter mile in under 10.5 seconds, and reaching a top speed of 202 mph (about 325 km/h). At the rear, a race-derived multi-link suspension developed by Multimac is visible through a polycarbonate window, reflecting the car’s motorsport-oriented design.

The example delivered to Ghadimi includes the $50,000 Performance Package, which adds aerodynamic components such as active underbody flaps, a prominent front splitter, rear drag reduction system, and magnesium wheels fitted with Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires. These elements are designed to support a Nürburgring lap time below seven minutes.

A Growing Trend Of Highly Personalized GTDs

This configuration is part of a broader pattern among Mustang GTD buyers. Ford has already delivered other customized versions, including one for Galpin Motors CEO Beau Boeckmann in a different pink shade named Beauberry Pink. Additional units have gone to figures such as Jay Leno and driver Vaughn Gittin Jr., each with distinct specifications.

The Mustang GTD became the first American production car to lap the Nürburgring in under seven minutes, before being surpassed by more extreme Corvette variants. Ford has since returned with additional GTDs to the track, with observers reporting improved unofficial times awaiting confirmation.

The reopening of order books suggests continued demand for the model. In some cases, as with Ghadimi’s collection, customization choices go beyond aesthetics and serve as a way to directly compare vehicles from different manufacturers under similar conditions.
