Chevrolet Reveals the Refreshed Look for the 2019 Chevy Camaro
In addition to the model's exterior redesign, the Camaro will also receive some upgrades to its powertrain and in-vehicle tech for the 2019 model year
Late last week, Chevrolet revealed a set of redesigns for its Malibu, Cruze, and Spark vehicles for the 2019 model year. Today, Chevrolet released information about another major model redesign, this time for the Chevrolet Camaro.
The 2019 Chevy Camaro will adopt a new look and a new powertrain option for the upcoming model year.
Chevy Camaro Changes: Look forward to these Chevy Camaro updates
The most prominent (and already the most controversial) change for the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro is its new front fascia. The grille design of the Camaro varies from trim to trim, giving each Camaro model a distinct look.
The Chevrolet Camaro RS possesses a sleek front fascia design with sharp lines. Meanwhile, the Camaro SS has a grille with a bulkier look, somewhat resembling the new front fascia of the Chevy Silverado. It even comes complete with Chevy’s new “flowtie” badge.
Chevy fans shouldn’t be too surprised to see this new Camaro design. A version of it first debuted last year during the Michael Bay blockbuster Transformers: The Last Knight, during which Autobot Bumblebee adopted the form of a modified Camaro.
Of course, new looks aren’t the only alteration for the 2019 Camaro. The new Chevy Camaro will also introduce the lineup’s first Turbo 1LE model.
The 2019 Chevrolet Camaro Turbo 1LE utilizes a 2.0-liter turbo engine, which produces 275 horsepower and 296 lb-ft of torque. A custom suspension gives this version of the Camaro a smoother feel and handling.
Meanwhile, the Camaro SS will be offered with Chevrolet’s advanced 10-speed paddle-shift automatic transmission. This drivetrain includes custom launch control and line lock systems.
Chevrolet Features for 2019: Chevrolet Silverado Steel Bed
Other additions to the Camaro for the 2019 model year include technological upgrades. The 2019 Camaro includes the Chevrolet Infotainment 3 system, with features like voice recognition and available navigation, while technologies like a Rear Camera Mirror can also be added to the performance model.
There is no word yet on how much the 2019 Chevrolet Camaro will cost. However, Camaro enthusiasts should expect to see it arrive on dealership lots later this year.
