Former GM Engineer to Develop Hennessey’s Next-Gen Venom F5

Hennessey’s Venom F5 hypercar is destined to be the fastest version of the model yet, especially with former General Motors engineer John Heinricy. Per Motor Authority, Hennessey announced this Tuesday that Heinricy will lead the development of the Venom F5, as chief engineer.

Heinricy’s dual career as an OEM executive at GM, as well as a racecar driver, makes him the perfect fit for this new role. Before this promotion, Heinricy had already been a full-time team member to develop and test the Venom F5. Now, under his leadership, this model promises to exceed Hennessey’s ambitions.

Per CEO and founder John Hennessey, the biggest goal for the Venom F5 project is to break the 300 mph barrier. To this end, the Hennessey team will incorporate a customized 7.6-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine into the model. This powertrain will generate more than 1,600 horsepower, as well as 1,300 pound-feet of torque. The lightweight construction of the carbon fiber body and the unique chassis will complement the potency of the Venom F5 while reducing drag. The beast will boast a curb weight of just 2,950 pounds.

Like with many hypercars, the Venom F5 is an exclusive offering. Per Motor Authority, Hennessey will produce only 24 Venom F5s and only 12 of these will be available for American buyers. At the time of writing, there’s a wait list for the U.S. production models, though seven of the international production models have yet to be claimed.
