Kia has been hard at work creating and unveiling concepts as of late; it was just last month that the automaker debuted the “Imagine by Kia” concept in Geneva. At the 2019 Seoul Motor Show media days last week, it unveiled the “Masterpiece” large SUV concept, while bringing along the previously revealed Imagine by Kia concept as well as the SP “Signature” compact SUV.

Global Brand Ambassadors BLACKPINK were in attendance to help showcase the Masterpiece concept, which hints at Kia’s recent entry (and future) in the large SUV segment. While it is a bold statement to name any vehicle a “masterpiece,” Kia is confident that this new SUV concept will be a hit with off-road enthusiasts thanks to its raised body, powerful all-wheel drive system, and rugged looks.

On the flip side of large ruggedness, Kia also brought along a sophisticated compact SUV concept: the SP (also known as the Signature). Having made its original debut at the India Auto Expo 2018 in Delhi, the SP concept features a wide grille and long hood, accented by razor thin LED lamps and precise metallic details. Kia hopes to get the attention of young trend-setters with the eye-catching vehicle, which is being called a preview of a production-ready compact SUV set to be revealed later this year.

During the public days of the Seoul Motor Show, Kia will also exhibit some of its latest technologies and innovations that have been developed for a post-autonomous driving era. The Kia R.E.A.D. (Real-time Emotion Adaptive Driving) system was made to improve the human mobility experience by personalizing the cabin of a vehicle based on the driver’s emotional state. Alongside that futuristic tech, Kia will debut V-Touch, the world’s first virtual touch-type gesture control technology, which uses a 3D camera to manage features in the car — like air conditioning, entertainment, and lighting — with simple finger gestures.

There’s no doubt that Kia remains on the cutting edge with its concepts and technology. It will surely be exciting to see how these innovative ideas move the automotive industry forward in the upcoming years.
