Chevrolet Bolt Begins Service at Dubai International Airport
The Chevrolet Bolt EV is proving itself capable of filling any number of roles, including that of airport shuttle. Dubai Airports, Chevrolet Middle East, and Al Ghandi Auto in December announced that they are putting the new Bolt to work as part of the support vehicle fleet at Dubai International.
The Bolt will transport airport workers to their necessary roles, be it maintaining the airfield to performing inspections to managing runway and air traffic. The Bolt was chosen not just for its reliability and style, but for its efficiency — the EPA-estimated 238-mile all-electric range is a major selling point, particularly given DBX’s ambitions for better sustainable practices.

“Our partnership with Chevrolet is in line with our continued efforts to contribute to Dubai’s green initiatives,” said Dubai Airports CEO Paul Griffiths. “The addition of the Chevrolet Bolt EV to our support vehicle fleet will go a long way in increasing awareness of the benefits of electric vehicles while further cementing our alignment our push for environmentally responsible mobility solutions. We are constantly looking for greater efficiencies across all our operations and this partnership was a natural next step in this direction.”
Deliveries of the Chevrolet Bolt in the United Arab Emirates began in July of this year following its debut at the 2018 Dubai International Auto Show. To incentivize drivers to check out the EV, the UAE government is offering free parking, free registration, free Salik tags, and free charging at any DEWA-approved station to anyone who purchases a Bolt through the end of 2019.
