Chevy Malibu Updates for 2020
The Malibu has long-been a stylish sedan-offering from Chevrolet and for 2020 the automaker is making sure the model stands out like never before with notable changes and updates.

As the fifth model year of the ninth-generation Chevy Malibu, the 2020 Malibu will no longer count the Hybrid offering in its lineup, reports GM Authority writer Alex Luft. The lineup will add, though, a Midnight Edition package. Assigned to the LT trim, the Midnight Edition package will allow drivers to customize their ride with a blacked-out grille, 19-inch black-painted aluminum wheels, black bowties in the front and back, all-season blackwall tires, and nameplate badges in black. The RS trim is grounded by 18-inch aluminum wheels and distinguished by a chrome grille.
Drivers can choose between two new colors: stone gray metallic and black cherry metallic. Pacific blue metallic, iridescent pearl tricoat, and sandy ridge metallic are no longer paint options for the 2020 model.
“Mechanically, the 2020 Chevy Malibu adds the remote vehicle starter system as an option on the LS and RS models. In addition, the LPO-level remote start kit — a separate, dealer-installed remote starter kit option — is no longer available as a free flow option. Instead, it is now only available through Convenience Package 1, Convenience Package 2 or Weather Protection Package 2,” reports Luft.
There are a couple name changes — instead of Low Speed Forward Automatic Braking, the tech will be referenced as Automatic Emergency Braking, and the term Enhanced Automatic Emergency Braking replaces the term for Forward Automatic Braking.

“The midsize sedan finds itself in an ever-shrinking space for Chevrolet sedans, with the discontinuation of the Cruze and Impala, and the seemingly dim future of the Sonic. Even so, we do expect the Malibu to remain available for the 2021 model year, albeit with minimal changes,” reports Luft.
