Chevy Unveils Darkly Styled 2018 Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition
Chevy is introducing the 2018 Tahoe Custom Midnight Edition, which brings blacked-out styling to the popular full-size SUV.
“The introduction of the Tahoe Custom last year was well-received by our customers who were looking for the capability of a full-size SUV with the added utility of increased rear cargo space,” said Sandor Piszar, Chevrolet Trucks marketing director. “The Tahoe Custom Midnight takes the capability and value of the Custom trim and adds rugged, all-black features found on our popular Midnight Editions.”
The Tahoe Custom Midnight’s all-black exterior includes 18-inch painted black wheels with Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, black bowtie emblems, a black grille, and off-road styling cues. Inside, the Custom Midnight swaps out the Tahoe’s third-row seat for extra cargo space — 54 cubic feet behind the second row and 112 cubic feet in total.

Based on the Tahoe Custom LS trim, the Custom Midnight is equipped with a standard 5.3-liter V8 engine that delivers 355 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 23 mpg on the highway. Towing capacity is 6,600 pounds. The Custom Midnight will be available in LS, 2WD, and 4WD configurations. Other features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and 4G LTE connectivity with Wi-Fi hotspot capability, along with a standard 8-inch color touchscreen radio, backup camera, and remote start.
Until now, Chevy buyers had to purchase a premium Tahoe LT or Z71 model to get the Tahoe Midnight look. The Custom Midnight, though, only costs $1,000 more than a normal Tahoe Custom.
Chevy says the Tahoe Custom Midnight will be available from dealers sometime this spring.
