European Driving Range for Kia e-Niro Reaches 485 Kilometers

Thanks to a single charge of its substantial 64 kWh lithium-polymer battery, the new Kia e-Niro will have drivers in Europe on the open road for approximately 485 kilometers while city driving earns them a 615 km homologated range, according to the automaker. When powered by the standard 39.2 kWh power pack, the Kia e-Niro can go for 312 km, when fully charged.

Although drivers can get behind the wheel of the zero-emissions crossover at end of this year, they don’t have to wait that long to see it in person. Before it hits European dealers, drivers can get a glimpse of the eco-friendly ride at the 2018 Paris Motor Show, which is scheduled for October 4 -14.

The Kia Niro is a popular model having reached sales over 200,000 across the globe since its 2016 debut. Sales in Europe account for 65,000 Niros sold.  The e-Niro promises to deliver the versatility and utility of a crossover and the stylish cues well-known to the Kia brand. The powertrain of the zero-emissions e-Niro will deliver a smooth performance while offering European drivers an eco-friendly mode of transportation.

To help protect the e-Niro’s battery charge, the crossover is equipped with Coasting Control, Predictive Energy Control, and regenerative braking.

“The technologies enable drivers to recharge the battery pack and maximize vehicle range when coasting of braking,” explains Kia. “CGC and PEC are linked to the navigation system and account for upcoming corners and topographic changes, suggesting when drivers could coast in order to harvest additional energy.”

As a standard feature, the battery pack and electric motor of the e-Niro are protected by Kia’s 7-year, 150,000-kilometer warranty.
