Following last month’s announcement of the third generation of SYNC, Ford has revealed that it will partner with AccuWeather in order to integrate one of America’s foremost weather apps into its future vehicles. By pairing AccuWeather’s MinuteCast™ technology—with SYNC, Ford will put hyper-localized weather forecasting at the fingertips of its drivers, giving them up-to-the-minute weather information instantly.
“The new integration of AccuWeather for Ford SYNC AppLink will bring our customers the most up-to-date weather information while on the road,” said Julius Marchwicki, Ford Connected Services Product manager. “The system is easy to use, and with the addition of MinuteCast, drivers will get minute-by-minute forecasts for up to two hours to help them make safer driving decisions during bad weather.”
AccuWeather’s MinuteCast will utilize the exact street address or GPS location of a driver to relay information about the intensity and duration of precipitation. When inclement weather is expected, MinuteCast can also issue an audio warning to the driver to prepare them for what’s ahead.
“With important features such as severe weather alerts and AccuWeather MinuteCast, our minute-by-minute precipitation forecast, Ford SYNC AppLink is connecting users with the weather information they need when they need it as they travel, to help provide a better driving experience,” said Steven Smith, chief digital officer for AccuWeather.
