Ford is extending its commitment to helping ensure the prosperity of Historically Black Colleges and Universities with the newly-announced HBCU Drive2Greatness program. The program will see the automaker donating a total of $300,000 to HBCUs across America for STEAM initiatives, encouraging students and alumni to “Rep Your HBCU” to help them grab one of four prizes.

“For more than three decades, Ford has been committed to implementing and supporting initiatives that encourage and inspire young people to pursue and succeed in STEAM careers,” said Raj Register, manager, Ford multicultural communications. “With the launch of our inaugural Drive2Greatness program, we’re excited to extend that commitment to support Historically Black Colleges and Universities and their STEAM programs.

“As a preview of what these schools have a chance to win, next month we are surprising an HBCU campus with the Ultimate Homecoming Takeover to showcase the excitement and enthusiasm of what the experience will be like for the grand prize winner,” Register added.

The HBCU Drive2Greatness program got underway in earnest over Labor Day weekend at the 15th annual Tom Joyner Family Reunion in Orlando. At the event, Florida A&M University was awarded a $10,000 donation to put toward STEAM initiatives.

For the “Rep Your HBCU” campaign, hashtags assigned to HBCUs can be found at the Tom Joyner Morning Show Facebook Page and used on social media as a vote. The highest vote-getters will receive their cut of Ford’s $300,000 pledge. The school with the highest vote total will also win the Ford Ultimate Homecoming Takeover award.
