2018 Ford F-150 TAWA Texas Truck Rodeo Truck of Texas Trophy

This just in: the 2018 Ford F-150 is big in Texas.

Ford’s F-Series this week racked up its 14th Truck of Texas title when the new and improved F-150 bested the competition at the 24th annual Texas Truck Rodeo at Longhorn River Ranch. The 2018 F-150 scored top marks with judges representing the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA), scoring the F-Series’ fourth win in seven years and second in a row following the all-new Super Duty’s win in 2016.

“The competition was incredibly fierce at this year’s Texas Truck Rodeo,” said Nic Phillips, TAWA president. “More than 70 member journalists put in more than 300 hours of driving time evaluating the vehicles presented. The results in several categories are separated by the narrowest of margins, just tenths and hundredths of a point, confirming just how competitive the trucks and utility vehicles are today. Ford’s 2018 F-150 pickup, boosted by its extreme-performance 2018 Raptor, along with updated EcoBoost® engines and 10-speed transmissions, convinced our journalists to bestow the trophy.”

Not only was the 2018 Ford F-150 triumphant, but the Raptor variant was named the winner in the Off-Road Pickup Truck category. The F-150 Raptor also scored the highest marks of any truck in overall personal appeal and exterior styling.

Ford’s back-to-back Truck of Texas wins mark the first time that Ford has won consecutive trophies since its seven-year run from 2003-09. Given the addition of a high-luxury Limited trim for the 2018 F-Series Super Duty and the impending return of the Ranger, it is not outside the realm of possibility that Ford could possibly pull off a run of similarly impressive magnitude.
