Ford delivered a total of 28,099 vehicles in the United Kingdom in April, commanding the top spot in car and commercial vehicle (CV) sales once again. The Ford Fiesta was once again the best-selling car in the UK, and the Transit Custom and Transit ranked a respective first and second among CVs.

“We are continuing to build on our core strengths in the UK market. The successful all-new Fiesta is being joined by newest Active and ST versions. Kuga and the much improved EcoSport have both seen significant sales growth as customers continue to choose vehicles with higher ride height, more space, and greater versatility,” said Ford of Britain Chairman and Managing Director Andy Barratt.

“Ford also now has the freshest commercial vehicle line-up in the UK after we unveiled the all-new Fiesta Sport van at the CV show last month. Sitting alongside the new Transit Custom, Transit Connect, and Transit Courier, our latest Transit products are now equipped with more technology than ever before, including FordPass Connect with on-board modem.”

Ford in April commanded a 14.6% share of all vehicle sales in the UK, putting its share a full 5.4 percentage points ahead of the second-best brand. This was achieved thanks to the Fiesta, Transit, Transit Connect, Transit Courier, Transit Custom, Tourneo Custom, Galaxy, and Ranger all topping their respective segments.

Ford’s car sales were up 24.3% at 20,114 vehicles sold, a full 5,507 registrations better than the next-best auto brand. Fiesta sales totaled 7,811 vehicles, and sales of models like Focus, C-MAX, and EcoSport were also strong.

CV sales rose 16% at 7,985 vehicles delivered, giving Ford a 33% market share for the month. Through April, Ford’s commercial vehicle sales are up 17.6% and its market share stands at 34.7%.
