Ford Ranger Notches Record Sales, Bunches of Awards in Asia Pacific
The Ford Ranger had itself a pretty big 2018. Not only did it make its way back to the United States after an all-too-long absence and debut a new, high-powered Raptor variant, but it also scored record sales in the Asia Pacific region for a 10th consecutive year.
“The Ranger continues to set the benchmark for the pickup truck segment with its unmatched versatility and capabilities,” said Peter Fleet, president, Ford Asia Pacific. “The launch of the new Ranger in 2018 allowed it to continue revolutionizing the segment, with Ranger Raptor pushing its success story to the next level and further transforming the ownership experience for truck enthusiasts across the region.”

The Ranger saw record sales in Thailand, Australia, the Philippines, New Zealand, Vietnam, and Malaysia. Perhaps most impressive was its performance in Thailand, where 55,389 Ranger trucks were delivered last year for a 25 percent year-over-year increase and market share climbed to 12.4 percent.
“The success of the Ranger and Everest continued to drive our performance and progress in 2018,” said Wichit Wongwatthanakan, managing director, Ford Thailand. “The launch of both the new Ranger and new Everest mid-year helped to raise the bar even further in their respective segments, further widening their appeal in the market.”
2018 was also a successful year in Asia Pacific in terms of hardware. During the calendar year, the Ranger Wildtrak earned Best Car of 2018 from The Reporter Asia in Thailand; the Ranger Raptor earned the titles of 2018 Car of the Year from Top Gear Philippines and Best Truck of 2018 from Stuff in New Zealand; and the Ranger earned Pickup of the Year honors in the 2018 Malaysia Car of the Year Awards, Malaysia’s 2018 DSF.my Allianz Vehicle of the Year Awards, and Myanmar’s Drive magazine 2018 Car of the Year Awards.
