Ford South Africa Donates 26 Vehicles to Charitable Organizations

Right in line with the seasonal spirit of giving, Ford Motor Company South Africa announced that has donated 26 vehicles to 22 charitable organizations from Gauteng, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, KwaZulu-Natal, and Mpumalanga. The vehicles include 15 Ford Transit vans, seven Tourneo Customs, three Rangers, and a Fiesta (not in a pear tree, mind you), all of which will be used in some way or another to help spread goodwill.

“South Africa is a road-based economy, making vehicle ownership a key factor in order to deliver the services needed to advance the country’s economy and improve the quality of life of all our people,” said Duduzile Nxele, Corporate Communications Manager, Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa. “We are very proud that Ford is able to help the selected charity organizations go further in providing the selfless services that they do.”

Nxele added that the total donation of 26 vehicles, which translates to approximately $831,600 USD in value, is the largest such donation in the automaker’s 95-year history in the region.

Among the charities being aided by the donation are Action for Blind and Disabled Children, which focuses on providing digital literacy training, and the Mamelodi-based football academy Tomorrow Today Foundation.

“We wish to thank Ford for the most generous contribution to our cause and for its commitment to making a difference to this marginalized sector of our community,” said Elsie Botha of Action for the Blind and Disabled Children.

Other charities included in Ford South Africa’s donation include Save the Children and SOS Children’s Villages South Africa in Gauteng, the Kidz2Kids Trust and NorSA in Western Cape, Indoni Cultural School in KwaZulu-Natal, and Sabi Sand Nature Conservation Trust in Mpumalanga.
