Ford Transit lineup

Ford has announced that, thanks to its Transit lineup, it ascended to the top of Europe’s commercial vehicle industry in 2015 for the first time in 18 years. Ford closed 2015 with a 12.6% market share, up 1.2 percentage points from 2014.

Throughout the past year, customers in Europe purchased more than 280,000 commercial vehicles from Ford, up 23% from its final tally from 2014. That growth catapulted Ford-branded CVs from third overall to first, and a great deal of it was owed to the Transit family.

The Transit was the fastest-growing vehicle in its segment at a 20% year-over-year increase and a total of 73,000 units sold; sales of the Transit Custom totaled 99,700 units and grew 18% year-over-year; Transit Connect was also the fastest-growing vehicle in its segment at 43,900 units and a 22% year-over-year increase; and the new Transit Courier totaled 16,500 units across the Euro 20 and an impressive 22,800 units in Turkey alone.

“Ford has invested heavily to develop new commercial vehicles that are tough, fuel efficient and offer the latest driver assistance technologies like Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Keeping Alert,” said Roelant de Waard, vice president, Marketing, Sales & Service, Ford of Europe. “Ford now has the freshest commercial vehicle line-up in Europe, and this year we’re also introducing all-new powertrains for the Transit and Transit Custom, plus a bold new Ranger.”

Ford’s Transit lineup—including Transit, Transit Custom, Transit Connect, and Transit Courier, combined for sales of 233,000 vehicles in 2015, up 46,000 units from the previous year.
