Holy Mother of God, It’s a LEAF-Frontier (LEAFrontier?)
Seriously, what would you call this thing? LEAFrontier seems like the most obvious choice, but it’d be hard to affix something so on-the-nose to something that’s so…out there. Because that’s exactly what a LEAF-Frontier mashup is: it’s an altogether alien creation—dreamed up by Nissan engineers at the automaker’s Technical Center in Stanfield, Arizona—that somehow just seems oh so right.
It turns out that the LEAF-Frontier is for more than just show. Created by Roland Schellenberg and Arnold Moulinet, the weird little electric pickup is used by team at Stanfield to haul supplies and personnel around the facility. Also, they’ve taken to calling it Sparky.
So this all begs the question: why a LEAF-Frontier hybrid?
“I needed a project for a team building activity so we can bring the team together. We had a need for a truck. Something to drive around, a shop truck,” said Schellenberg.
FAIR ENOUGH!

In all seriousness, for as weird as Sparky looks, he sure is charming. We wager that Nissan might actually want to consider making this cute little fella available for commercial or urban use, because who wouldn’t want this thing?
“Being a slick truck, and not so tough, I see it as a boy – but a boy with a heart. It’s something that we all put together. We all share. So it has a little bit of everybody in there,” said Schellenberg.
Sharing is caring, so why not share it with the rest of the world? We’d drive hell out of this thing.
