Hyundai Announces Tiny New Crossover: the 2020 Venue
Hyundai’s newest crossover will have a name that sets it apart from the rest of the automaker’s lineup.
The 2020 Hyundai Venue departs from the rest of Hyundai’s crossover and SUV offerings with a name that doesn’t refer to a specific location (Kona, Santa Fe, Tucson, Palisade).
According to Hyundai, Venue “references a ‘place’ where people want to be seen” and “embodies the characteristics of ‘the place to be.’”
The Venue will be the smallest crossover in Hyundai’s lineup, and the automaker is touting it as an affordable, entry-level vehicle for “urban entrepreneurs.” In keeping with this marketing angle, the news release announcing the Venue’s name was accompanied by a photo of young people partying on a city rooftop and an overhead view of a colorful street scene.

For a look at the actual vehicle, you’ll have to wait until the official unveiling at the New York International Auto Show on April 17, which will also include an interactive augmented reality element for auto show visitors and home viewers alike.
Information about the Venue is still sparse, but Hyundai has revealed a few details about the crossover in recent months. Said to feature a boxier, more traditional body style, the Venue should be immediately distinguishable from the sportier profile of Hyundai’s next-largest crossover, the Kona. It will also be built on a different platform.
