Hyundai Celebrates 1 Million UK Sales with Giveaway of Commemorative Tucson
Hyundai Motors has come a long way since arriving in the United Kingdom’s automotive market back in 1982. Before it was the global contender it is today, the simple Korean brand had a modest sales of its vehicles that were imported to European countries.
Now, the automaker has crossed the one million sales mark in the UK, along with ten years of having an official UK subsidiary.

Although the annual sales are still under 100,000, company officials at Hyundai are hopeful about the future. “We won’t take a breath,” promised President and CEO of Hyundai UK Tony Whitehorn. “Hyundai ploughs all the money that it earns back into products and that is what has driven the changes in the company.” The automaker is looking ahead for successful numbers in coming years as more low-emission and hybrid models are released.
To celebrate this milestone, Hyundai UK launched its #M1LLION campaign, with the giveaway prize being the official one millionth vehicle: a Hyundai Tucson 2.0-liter diesel Premium SE in Ara Blue. Running from November 26th until today (one million seconds or 11.6 days), the contest encourages Hyundai fans to nominate their “one in a million” person who deserves a new car.
Whitehorn also stated, “To have reached a million cars sold in the UK is an amazing achievement for our business and this #M1LLION competition is a way to share this milestone with our loyal customers and social media fans.”
Final entries can be made through Hyundai UK’s social media channels in the form of a video, text, or photo.
