The move gives Hyundai a more affordable hybrid crossover at a time when buyers remain sensitive to vehicle prices and fuel costs. The new front-wheel-drive Tucson Hybrid becomes one of the cheaper hybrid SUVs in its segment.

The 2026 Tucson Hybrid now sits slightly above the 2026 Kia Sportage Hybrid, which starts at $31,985. It also undercuts the 2026 Toyota RAV4, priced from $33,495, despite Toyota’s model coming standard as a front-wheel-drive hybrid.

A Lower Starting Price for the Tucson Hybrid

Hyundai has introduced two new front-wheel-drive variants of the Tucson Hybrid for 2026. According to Motor1, these versions are $1,500 less expensive than the comparable all-wheel-drive models.

The new entry point is the Tucson Hybrid SE FWD, priced at $32,550 with destination. That places it between the Kia Sportage Hybrid at $31,985 and the Toyota RAV4 at $33,495.

Other rivals listed in the same comparison include the Ford Escape ST-Line Hybrid at $35,385, the Mazda CX-50 Hybrid at $36,245, and the Honda CR-V Hybrid at $37,080.

The Hybrid Powertrain Remains Unchanged

The Tucson Hybrid keeps its turbocharged 1.6-liter engine. The system produces a combined 231 horsepower and 271 pound-feet of torque.

Hyundai pairs the hybrid setup with an eight-speed automatic transmission, which remains the standard gearbox. The source does not mention any mechanical changes beyond the addition of front-wheel-drive versions.

That detail matters because the price cut comes from the drivetrain configuration, not from a reduction in the reported output or core transmission setup.

A New Night Edition Joins the Lineup

Hyundai is also adding a new Night edition to the Tucson range. It starts at $44,175 and is based on the Tucson Limited trim.

The Night edition includes 19-inch black alloy wheels with silver Hyundai logos, gloss-black front and rear bumper trim, black mirror caps, and black window surrounds.

The trim also comes standard with equipment such as a head-up display, Bose audio, and a heated steering wheel. The addition gives the Tucson lineup a darker-styled version at the higher end of the range.

Hyundai’s pricing move arrives as affordability remains a major concern for consumers. Motor1 notes that budget-conscious buyers may welcome a lower-priced hybrid option while gas prices remain high, and adds that Hyundai recently recorded one of its best sales months ever in May.
