The stylish 2019 Hyundai Kona seemingly can’t help but win awards. It’s earned a spot on the Car and Driver 10Best List, recently topped its segment in J.D. Power’s 2019 U.S. Tech Experience Index Study, and kicked off the year winning the 2019 North American Utility Vehicle of the Year award. The hardware just keeps on piling up, too, with the Kona winning AutoPacific’s 2019 Ideal Vehicle Award in the compact crossover segment.

The Ideal Vehicle Award is unique in that it asks over 50,000 new vehicle owners to offer a candid assessment of how their vehicles live up to expectations. The respondents rate their vehicles based on 14 different factors, and the vehicles that see the fewest suggested changes earn top spots in their segments. The results of the New Vehicle Satisfaction Survey are then used to determine which vehicle does the best job of putting its money where its mouth is … or would be if vehicles had, y’know, mouths.

One area in particular that the AutoPacific IVAs focus on is the aesthetic, and the Kona has the distinct advantage of being one of the more stylish choices in its segment. Helping the Hyundai Kona stand out is the tactful use of body cladding that gives it an adventure-ready look, complementing its swooping profile and aggressive face.

“IVAs speak to a vehicle’s layout and design,” says AutoPacific president George Peterson. “Giving owners a chance to tell us what they would change and how they would change it reveals which vehicles are best designed to meet their needs and expectations.”

The 2019 Hyundai Kona also stands out for drivers by being well-equipped from the base up. It offers must-haves like Android Auto and Apple CarPlay right out of the gate, and the SEL trim and up boast advanced safety features like Lane Change Assist and Blind-Spot Collision Warning.
