ICYMI: Kia Debuted a Limited Edition Stinger GTS in New York

Kia was ready to play when it arrived at the New York Auto Show last month — so much so that it brought not one, but two eye-catching vehicles to the show floor. While many were trying to cool down after being exposed to the fiery HabaNiro concept, others were drooling over the expertly designed special edition Stinger GTS.
It’s Turbo Time: Have you met the 2020 Kia Soul?
On the outside, the bright orange Stinger is accented by carbon fiber side mirror caps, side vents, and the signature Kia tiger nose grille. In the back is a GTS badge as well as a special “Stinger” emblem on the trunk lid rather than the standard Kia logo. This high-quality external look bleeds inside, where you’ll find an Alcantara-covered steering wheel and center console, as well as a premium suede-like headliner.

Of course, it wouldn’t be a Stinger if there wasn’t a focus on the performance and drive quality of Kia’s increasingly popular sport sedan. The GTS maintains the GT’s powertrain of a 3.3-liter V6 twin turbo engine and eight-speed automatic transmission, which can produce up to 365 horsepower. However, a newly developed dynamic all-wheel drive system provides a more spirited drive, adding a mechanical limited slip differential to improve traction and allocate power more evenly between the rear wheels.

When it comes to price, the Stinger GTS with rear-wheel drive starts at $44,000, between the 2019 Stinger GT and GT1 trims. The Stinger GTS with the D-AWD system will bump you up to an MSRP of $46,500, which is lower than the highest GT2 trim, which sits at $50,200. This special edition Stinger GTS has been limited to 800 units and is expected to become available spring 2019.
