Welcome to In the Rearview, where I talk about a few of the big stories from the automotive world from the past week.
This week, due to the Los Angeles Auto Show, we were treated to a slew of new car reveals, including the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 (aka “Look, we are better than the F-150 Raptor”), the multidimensionally redesigned Mazda CX-5, the itsy-bitsy Ford EcoSport SUV, and the Genesis G80’s new Sport version.
Outside of reveals, though, I was thoroughly surprised when Motor Trend announced that its Car of the Year would be none other than the Chevrolet Bolt EV, beating out tough competition from performance and luxury models.
Speaking of surprise, we were also treated to the reveal of just how they pack so many clowns into those little clown cars.
In more serious news, though, the Brazilian Grand Prix was subject to several crashes in the face of the semi-typical rainstorm.
Finally, though, we are left with something of a mystery, as Motoring in Australia has cited “sources” that say Ford is currently testing early versions of a renewed Bronco (originally discontinued back in 1996, one or two years after that whole OJ Simpson thing).
