Each year, Interbrand analyzes companies and ranks them in its “Best Global Brands” annual report. This year, as last, Toyota beat its competitors to earn the title of 2015 Most Valuable Global Automotive Brand, moving up the ranks to sixth overall place from its previous place at number eight.

In order to rank companies in the “Best Global Brands” list, Interbrand takes into account three key aspects: the financial performance of the branded products and services, the role of the brand in the purchase decision process, and the strength the brand has to command a premium price or secure earnings for the company. Interbrand estimated Toyota’s value at $49 billion, which was a whopping 16% increase from 2014.

“Making guests our top priority, Toyota has done a better job than ever this year of delivering exciting new, ever-better products with exceptional styling, performance and value,” commented Jack Hollis, group vice president of Toyota Division Marketing at Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. “Toyota’s rise and continued improvement on Interbrand’s Best Global Brands ranking reflects our guests’ trust in the efforts of our dedicated dealers and team members.”

Toyota’s achievements include the introduction of the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA), which will roll out to all models in the coming years, making them more cost-effective and efficient. Toyota also makes frequent contributions to communities via initiatives like the Toyota Mobility Foundation and the i-Road.

Other well-performing auto brands include BMW (11th overall), Mercedes-Benz (12th overall), and Honda (19th overall).
