July 2018 Marks 12.7 Percent Increase over 2017 July for Volkswagen; Year-to-Date Sales Up, Too
With half of 2018 in the books, Volkswagen is looking good, sales-wise. Posting an increase in a year-to-date sales as well as a month-to-month comparison, the automaker finished out July on a high note.

When looking back at July 2017, VW earned an increase of 12.7 percent with a total of 30,520 units sold. Although a little less but still a significant increase, the year-to-date sales of 2017 vs. 2018 netted an 8 percent increase for this year’s sunny July.
A total of 6,636 units of the new Tiguan have hit the road in 2018 while the Jetta is leading a bit with 6,931 units. The Atlas, which is manufactured in VW’s Chattanooga plant, tallied 6,499 units sold.
“We’re very pleased to mark our seventh consecutive month of year-over-year growth,” said Derrick Hatami, Executive Vice President of Sales, Marketing and After Sales for VWoA. “Our SUV lineup has given us strong lift in 2018 and July was the best month this year for the 2018 Atlas. Overall, this was our best July since 2015 and the all-new 2019 Jetta played a large part in reaching that mark, with Jetta sales leading the Volkswagen brand in volume for the month.”
The 2018 Tiguan is offered in eight trim levels: S, S with 4MOTION®, SE, SE with 4MOTION®, SEL, SEL with 4MOTION®, SEL Premium, and SEL Premium with 4MOTION®. It is equipped with a 2.0-liter TSI® four-cylinder turbocharged engine paired to an eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport mode to generate 184 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque.
The 2018 Volkswagen Jetta is available at six trim levels: S, Wolfsburg Edition, SE, SE Sport, SEL, and GLI. It features three engine choices, with the most powerful being a 2.0-liter TSI® turbocharged engine paired to a six-speed DSG® automatic transmission with paddle shifters, Tiptronic®, and Sport mode. This pairing puts out 210 horsepower and 207 lb-ft of torque.
The 2018 Volkswagen Atlas is available at four trim levels: Launch Edition, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium. Each trim comes standard with front-wheel drive, but 4MOTION® all-wheel drive is available. The 3.6-liter V6 and eight-speed automatic transmission with Tiptronic® and Sport mode churn out 276 horsepower and 266 lb-ft of torque in the full-size SUV.
