The all-new Kia K5 seems to be on a similar path as the award-winning Telluride. After debuting only a few months ago, the athletic sedan has caught the attention of many and has now made its way to the top of a prestigious list. Both the K5 and the Telluride were recently named “Top Rated” vehicles by Edmunds in its 2021 list of winners.

The K5 is Kia’s most powerful mid-size sedan, with a turbocharged engine under the hood. This brawn was showcased during the K5’s debut in the Triple Threat Stunt back in August. Inside, the K5 boasts an advanced cabin with the latest tech, like standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto — which is most often only found on higher trims of other models. Those factors, along with the K5’s impeccable style, helped the vehicle earn the title of “Top Rated Sedan” by the editors at Edmunds.

Of course, I can’t go on about awards without mentioning the Telluride. The Kia SUV continues to amass recognition and praise from practically every major publication. Part of what made it the “Top Rated SUV” for 2021 was its spacious interior and abundant technology at a competitive price.

“We test over 300 vehicles every year, and it’s clear that the K5 and Telluride are category winners,” said Alistair Weaver, editor-in-chief at Edmunds. “The K5’s ride is as smooth as those from some luxury sedans, and it makes a striking first impression thanks to sharp design that’s far more compelling than some of its more pedestrian-looking competition. In terms of SUVs, the Telluride has truly changed our expectations for the segment, thanks to its combination of high-quality design, family-friendly functionality and impressive value.”

Will the K5 continue in the footsteps of the impressive Telluride? It’s quite possible, given Kia’s upward sales trend following a complete brand redesign. If the automaker continues to push out more stylish vehicles at affordable prices, there’s no telling what will happen.
