When you’re searching for a new car, one of your top concerns is likely connectivity and what a vehicle offers in its digital dash. Voice command, navigation, and wireless audio streaming are some of the most desirable features for a new car, and if an automaker doesn’t offer them in its vehicles in 2019, well, it’s probably a no-go. Kia has its own infotainment system called UVO eServices, which launched in 2011.

Ooh, Shiny! Have you seen the all-new 2020 Kia Telluride?

Bare bones, but beneficial, beginnings

UVO eServices was first available on the Soul, Sorento, Optima, Optima Hybrid, Sportage, and Rio models. The system featured voice command, a CD player, HD radio, a built-in digital jukebox, a touch screen, and a Bluetooth smartphone interface. It uses a smartphone application to deliver vehicle communications to the driver, allowing them to retrieve diagnostic trouble codes.

Fast-forward to 2015 and UVO eServices added an 8-inch Navigation system that allowed users to download apps like Yelp and Pandora Radio. Also new to 2015 was the ability to connect a Kia vehicle to a Wi-Fi hotspot, allowing Apple-device-owning drivers to have access to Siri Eyes Free technology.

UVO eServices today

The UVO eServices infotainment system Kia drivers know and love today features plenty more benefits than just voice command and music. Parking Minder can help you find your vehicle if you’re in a new location and forget where you parked your Kia. Parents will appreciate My Car Zone, which provides them with the option of adding a Speed Alert, Geo Fence Alert, and Curfew Limit Alert to keep tabs on rebellious teen drivers.

When it comes to safety, Kia vehicles equipped with UVO eServices* will offer Enhanced Roadside Assist, which connects a driver to the Kia 24/7 roadside assistance call center, where they can get help from an agent on the line. If an airbag deploys, 911 Connect automatically attempts to call 911 and sends your location to an emergency response agent. You can then decide to call an agent directly to let them know if you actually need emergency services to get to your location or not.
