Lexus and Marvel Partnership Results in a Concept Car Inspired by “Black Panther”

A Lexus fit for a king/superhero

When the first trailer for Avengers: Infinity War was finally released a few weeks back, it didn’t take long at all for it to become the most-viewed movie trailer in YouTube’s history. Fortunately, comic book fans have another upcoming entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe to hold them over until Infinity War arrives next summer: Black Panther.

As with almost every superhero movie, Black Panther is set to have several product tie-ins. Perhaps the most prominent of these partnerships is with Lexus, which developed a concept car directly inspired by the character of Black Panther.

Lexus has dubbed this vehicle the Black Panther Inspired LC. The automaker worked several aspects of the Black Panther mythos into the concept design, including a core powered by the fictional material of vibranium, the most important natural resource in Black Panther’s home country and kingdom of Wakanda.

Since vibranium doesn’t exist in the real world, this Black Panther-inspired car is purely conceptual. Nevertheless, the partnership between Black Panther and Lexus extends beyond just this concept car.

Fortunately, the Lexus that will actually show up in Black Panther is a little more down-to-earth

The 2018 Lexus LC Inspiration Series is set to appear in the Black Panther film during an exciting chase sequence. While not as fantastical as the imaginary automobile that Lexus conjured up, the LC Inspiration Series will undoubtedly house quite a few surprises when it appears on screen during the movie.

From the silver screen to comic book panels, the partnership between Lexus and Marvel also extends to a new eight-part miniseries: “Black Panther: Soul of a Machine.” In said graphic novel, Black Panther, aka King T’Challa of Wakanda, works to stop the evil machinations of the Machinesmith, utilizing a Lexus LC 500 during his mission.

It seems a bit odd that King T’Challa would rely upon a Lexus during his mission, rather than use one of the advanced vehicles from the technologically-advanced country he runs. Of course, he wouldn’t be the first comic book character to get around in a rather unusual way.

Here’s hoping Thanos shows up to Infinity War in his Thanos-copter
