Mazda Gives Sneak Peek of 2017 CX-5, Announces LA Premier
Hey, remember how a while ago, a bunch of photos cropped up of a Mazda SUV testing vehicle at a gas station in southern California? At the time, many car news websites predicted would be the new CX-5, which would be arriving for the 2018 model year.
Well, it seems that those news sites were only half right, because Mazda has released a teaser image and announced that it will indeed shortly reveal its all-new Mazda CX-5 at the upcoming LA Auto Show. However, rather than a 2018-model-year release, the new CX-5 is set to be released sooner, for the 2017 model year.
In a press release, Mazda said that the the new CX-5 will take the KODO-Soul of Motion design concept to a new level. However, if it is like the test vehicle seen by photographers in California, then odds are that the new CX-5 will mostly just take the design close to that of the CX-9 and the Koeru concept. That means thinner headlights and a slightly more angular grille design with a strong raised lip that meshes with the headlight design.
The CX-5 will be on public exhibit at LA from November 18th-27th, along with a number of other currently on sale, scheduled for sale, reference exhibits, and technology exhibits. Its official debut, though, will be two days prior during the first of the LA Auto Show’s two press days.
