Michigan consistently scores high on driver safety

For 2020, the following five cities have the safest drivers in Michigan: Lansing, Grand Rapids, Jackson, Holland, and Kalamazoo. Detroit came in 12th place out of the top 25 safest cities in the state.

When determining these rankings, QuoteWizard evaluated insurance quotes for 175,000 Michigan drivers. It’s also worth noting that the survey factored in the residential addresses of the drivers, rather than where any collisions happened, points out Mark Phelan from Detroit Free Press.

This year’s results build on the state’s success in last year’s QuoteWizard survey. For 2019, both Detroit and Grand Rapids made QuoteWizard’s top five large cities with the safest drivers. Detroit ranked first and Grand Rapids ranked fifth. Considering that the study evaluated 75 large cities in the U.S., both Michigan cities performed quite well.

The 2020 QuizWizard survey results come as no surprise to Adam Johnson, senior research analyst for Quotewizard.com. “Year over year, Michigan and Detroit rate among the better drivers,” he said.
