Mario Kart fans in Ohio will be thrilled to hear of a new event set for next year. Mushroom Rally, a traveling go-kart race event, is scheduled to arrive in Cincinnati and Columbus. While the event committee has yet to announce specific dates, we do know that it will happen sometime in early 2019.

Participants will get to wear character-themed costumes for 30 minutes of racing on a go-kart track. Another head-nod to the original video game is that attendees can also take part in games and activities for a chance to win prizes. Per Dayton Daily News, one winner from each city will be flown out to Las Vegas to compete in the grand finale for ultimate bragging rights.

Racers of all ages can compete, but there is a height requirement. Individuals over 4 feet 10 inches tall will enter the adult kart race. Those under this height limit will enter the junior kart race.

Make sure to bring an ID and tickets on the day of the race, since those two items are required for entrance. There’s also a safety briefing and registration to complete before drivers can hit the track.

Tickets for the Cincinnati and Columbus events are limited. So, if you’re interested in this unique experience head to Mushroom Rally’s website here for more information and to secure your spot. And don’t forget to gather up a group of friends to cheer you on from the sidelines as you live out your Mario Kart fantasy.
