The Stingray on the Raceway: C7 Corvette Stingray vs Tesla Model S P85D
Last week we brought you video of the Time Attack on the Race Track bout, a drag race in which the Chevy Corvette Zo6 defeated the Dodge SRT Viper TA. And today we return to PBIR in Jupiter, Florida, to bring you the Stingray on the Raceway: C7 Corvette Stingray vs Tesla Model S P85D.
In the immortal words of Michael Buffer: Let’s get ready to rrruuuuuummmmbllllleee!
C7 Corvette Stingray vs Tesla Model S P85D
While the Stingray’s 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque make it something of an underdog compared to the Tesla’s 691 hp and 687 lb-ft of torque, the Vette edges out its electric rival for the win. It was a close one—the C7 Corvette ran the quarter mile in 11.67 seconds, while the Tesla did it in 11.79 seconds—but the Corvette retained its status as America’s sports car.
To be fair, the Stingray is something of a “lightweight” here, weighing over 1,000 pounds less than the Model S P85D. But even if the C7 did have the weight advantage, the difference in ponies alone should make the Vette’s victory pretty impressive.
