Mercedes-Benz recently announced that it will be releasing a new station wagon in the US, but this model will be unlike anything that most people have ever seen. That’s because the 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon can sprint from 0 to 60 mph in 3.4 seconds and reach a top speed of 180 mph.

All of that power comes from an AMG 4.0-liter V8 engine that’s aided by twin-scroll turbochargers. Despite featuring smaller displacement, the new 4.0-liter still provides more power than the 5.5-liter biturbo V8 engine it replaces. The 5.5-liter V8 equipped in the 2017 model is “only” good for 577 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque.

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S will also feature a new AMG suspension with full-support multi-chamber air suspension, as well as the fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system. What’s more, the new E63 S comes standard with an AMG nine-speed sport transmission that uses a wet clutch rather than a typical torque converter.

Inside the cabin, the driver can review the performance of this wagon via two digital instrument cluster display screens that each measure 12.3 inches in overall size. A few other notable features found inside the new E63 S include an AMG performance steering wheel in black Nappa leather, front sport seats, and 35-cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats.

The 2018 Mercedes-AMG E63 S is scheduled to make its public debut this March at the Geneva Motor Show. After that, this wagon will go on sale in the US later this year, but Mercedes-Benz has yet to release pricing info for the new model. The 2017 Mercedes-AMG E63 S Wagon carried a starting MSRP of $105,225, but it could be assumed the 2018 model will cost more since it comes with 26 additional horsepower.

“The new AMG E63 Wagon combines our brand’s hallmark driving dynamics with high everyday practicality. It is not for nothing that the model has been a permanent fixture in the AMG portfolio for 40 years,” Tobias Moers, CEO of Mercedes-AMG GmbH. “The powerful engine and the intelligent all- wheel drive underpin our claim to always be at the forefront of development when it comes to performance.”
