UPDATE: Four Chevy Camaros Featured in the “Transformers” Movies Sell for $500,000 at Barrett-Jackson Auction
Last weekend, Barrett-Jackson held its annual auction in Scottsdale, Arizona. Among the many vehicles to cross the auction block were four Chevrolet Camaros featured in the popular Transformers movies.
The winning bid for these four vehicles was reportedly $500,000.
An Automotive History Lesson: The history of Chevrolet
The Chevrolet Camaro served as the alternate form of the Autobot Bumblebee during the first five movies of the Transformers film franchise. In his latest solo outing, aptly named Bumblebee, Bumblebee instead transforms into a classic Volkswagen Beetle, his vehicle mode from the original cartoon.
Two of the Camaros that were up for auction are 2010 Camaro models. One was featured in the first two films of the Transformers franchise, while the other was based on a heavily-modified version of the Camaro and featured in the third movie, Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
A third Camaro, based on the performance vehicle’s 2013 iteration, appeared during Transformers: Age of Extinction. Finally, a modified version of the current Camaro model appeared during 2017’s Transformers: The Last Knight.
All proceeds from the winning bid went to a noble cause: Operation Homefront. This organization is a non-profit committed to supporting military families with financial assistance and housing.

Unfortunately, the winning bidder won’t be able to drive away in the four new Camaros that they just won. Each vehicle has a scrap title, meaning they are not street legal. It’s currently unknown whether or not they can be modified to obtain a street-legal status.
Still, $500,000 seems like a pretty good deal when it comes to obtaining not one, but four of the most famous pieces of Transformers memorabilia ever assembled.
