2015 Kia Sedona Earns 5-Star NHTSA Safety Rating
Kia Motors America announced today that the new 2015 Kia Sedona minivan has been awarded a 5-star overall safety rating by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Sedona scored a perfect 5-star rating on the front-impact, side-impact, and pole crash tests.
“NHTSA’s recent 5-star rating of the 2015 Sedona is a testament to Kia’s commitment to safety. The Sedona is all-new for 2015 and combines CUV-like styling, inside and out, with exceptional quality and the tremendous value our brand is known for,” said Orth Hedrick, KMA’s vice president of product planning. “As families begin planning summer vacations in their Sedonas, they can feel confident in the engineering that went into their vehicle and that NHTSA has validated the product with its highest safety rating.”
Built on an all-new chassis, the 2015 Sedona offers 36% greater static torisional stiffnes than its closest segment competitor. Kia also used Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) for 76% of the body, which increases the minivan’s rigidity and durability. Kia’s use of ultra-high-strength steel tubes installed in the vehicle’s A pillars also contributes to the Sedona’s crashworthiness.
Add in the minivan’s numerous safety features, and the Sedona is safe enough for a whole family of Stig-Like but Legally Distinct Passengers.
