The 2016 Dodge Challenger will take you back to a time when it was cool to wear a poodle skirt and drink milkshakes at the shake shack all day long. This muscle car exhibits its roots in the American industry with a low, beefy stance, harsh body lines, and its unmistakable hood design. Standard 18-inch Satin Carbon wheels leave a lasting impression, while the available Shaker hood truly makes it a modern day version of past performance-oriented cars. 2016 Dodge Challenger RT Engine

2016 Dodge Challenger Performance

The powertrain options for the 2016 Dodge Challenger are plentiful. This muscle car has the cream of the crop in terms of power. For the SXT models, a 3.6-liter V6 comes standard, producing 305 horsepower and 268 lb-ft of torque. This engine comes with a standard eight-speed automatic engine, sending power to the rear wheels.

For the R/T models, a 5.7-liter V8 is the engine of choice, putting out 376 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque with the standard six-speed manual transmission. If you go for the optional eight-speed automatic, power is slightly less with 372 horsepower and 400 lb-ft of torque.

Dodge also offers a 6.4-liter V8 on the Scat Pack and SRT 392 models. This engine offers a bump of power with 485 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque, and is offered with a standard six-speed manual or optional eight-speed automatic.

The pièce de résistance, though, is the beastly supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V8. This mammoth engine churns out 707 hp and 650 lb-ft of torque, making it a true performance lover’s dream. A stout six-speed manual comes standard, while an eight-speed automatic is optional. Regardless of the transmission, the Hellcat engine offers pure adrenaline-soaked drives.

2016 Dodge Challenger Efficiency

If you’re looking to purchase the 2016 Dodge Challenger, it’s likely you care more about power than fuel efficiency. Because of its superior power, this muscle car doesn’t exactly offer Toyota Prius-like fuel efficiency numbers. With the 3.6-liter V6 engine, the Challenger has an EPA-estimated fuel economy of 23 mpg combined. The 5.7-liter engine offers an EPA-estimated 18 mpg combined, while the 6.4-liter offers 17 mpg combined with the manual. Finally, the super powerful Hellcat engine offers 16 mpg combined.

2016 Dodge Challenger Interior

Because the 2016 Dodge Challenger is all about performance, it should come as no surprise that its stylish cabin is driver-oriented. The center console is turned slightly towards the driver’s side, and the dash displace is located in the center and is configurable. Dodge brings to life the original 1970s Challenger with a T-handle that is available in the automatic-transmission models, while the larger manual shift knob adds to the Challenger’s vintage character. The Challenger’s interior is truly the combination of retro style and modern technology, with a base 5-inch Uconnect touchscreen interface. It even has an available 8.4-inch screen, making it a terrific option for any consumer that wants superior power.
