2016 Subaru Forester Overview
The 2016 Subaru Forester is a powerful SUV that offers surprising fuel economy and lots of interior spaced. Blessed with Subaru’s Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, the Forester is one of the safest models in its class.
The 2016 Forester has already starred in a commercial, which is so endearing that it legitimately might make you cry. You can watch it here.

What’s New for the 2016 Subaru Forester?
Despite a redesign for the 2014 model year, the 2016 Subaru Forester introduces some very new features. First, like all 2016 Subaru models, the Forester comes with Subaru’s STARLINK system, which combines hands-free connectivity, entertainment, and safety systems. Drivers can also opt for one of two STARLINK packages with their new Forester. And speaking of safety, Forester models equipped with EyeSight will now also benefit from Steering-Responsive Fog Lights.
For these changes, the Forester receives some mild price increases across the trims. Pricing ranges from $22,395 to $33,795, excluding an $850 destination and delivery charge and also excluding the prices for available packages, ranging from $500 to $2,145.
Subaru offers the 2016 Forester in six trim levels: 2.5i, 2.5i Premium, 2.5i Limited, 2.5i Touring, 2.0XT Premium, and 2.0XT Touring. Available packages include the Alloy Wheel Package, All-Weather Package, All-Weather Package + EyeSight, All-Weather Package + EyeSight + Navigation, Navigation System + Audio with Harman Kardon amplifier and speakers, Navigation System + Audio with Harman Kardon amplifier and speakers + EyeSight, and EyeSight + Navigation System.

2016 Subaru Forester Exterior
The base 2016 Subaru Forester sits on standard 17 x 7.0-inch 5-spoke wheels, but moving up the trims can take you to 18 x 7.0-inch aluminum-alloy, dark gray wheels with machined finish. The Forester has a wheelbase of 103.9 inches but is an incredible 180.9 inches long, 70.7 inches wide, and 66.4 inches tall, meaning it still towers (slightly) above the Outback.

2016 Subaru Forester Performance
The 2.5i trims of the new Subaru Forester are powered by (you guessed it) a 2.5-liter DOHC aluminum-alloy 16-valve SUBARU BOXER four-cylinder engine with Active Valve Control. The engine is paired with either a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) with Subaru’s signature Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive or a fully synchronized six-speed transmission (again, with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive). These models put down 170 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque.
Any guesses as to what powers the 2.0XT trims? It’s a 2.0-liter turbocharged SUBARU BOXER four-cylinder engine. With this baby under the hood, the Forester gets 250 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to the Lineartronic CVT.
