Good Housekeeping has announced its “Best New Cars Awards for 2017” awards, among which was a Best Sedan trophy for the new 2017 Honda Accord Sport.

The winners, which appear in the February issue of the magazine currently on newsstands, also include the Volkswagen Golf (Best Compact), BMW M240I (Best Luxury Compact), Audi 4 (Best Luxury Sedan), GMC Acadia (Best Crossover SUV), Chevy Bolt EV (Best Electric), and Toyota Prius Two (Best Hybrid).

The Good Housekeeping Institute worked with Car and Driver to screen over 100 new vehicles, which was then winnowed down to the top 25 for closer examination. After driving more than 1,200 miles on test tracks and open roads, GHI Labs engineers and consumer testers rated the vehicles on their value, safety, handling, smoothness, interior design, comfort and onboard technology.

“We were impressed by the roomy interior, superior gas mileage, and perfectly steering wheel buttons,” Good Housekeeping editors wrote. “The Accord has tons of available add-ons that are usually only on pricier cars, like smart braking and lane-keeping assist. In the hybrid, when you use the turn signal, a camera pops up on the center screen to let you see blind spots.”

Editors also noted that certain Accord Sport models feature an infotainment system that is touchscreen-only, while others come with dials.

The magazine concluded that, “You won’t find a better ride at this price.”

The 2017 Honda Accord model also includes, for the first time ever, a Sport Special Edition trim. It has the same features as the award-winning Accord Sport, but adds heated leather seats with red stitching and unique “Special Edition” badging.
