2018 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is Finally Here
The 2018 Honda Clarity Fuel Cell, one of the three electrified vehicles that is part of the automaker’s award-winning Clarity series, has finally arrived at select Honda dealerships in California, giving drivers seeking green driving alternatives a full complement of choices.
The Clarity Fuel Cell joins the Clarity Electric and Clarity Plug-in Hybrid to make up three variants of the same five-passenger sedan. This is Honda’s way of tackling a common issue in the automotive industry: customers want an electrified car, but the car that has all of the features they want isn’t available with the right powertrain.
The Clarity series takes three approaches to electrification and joins other models in the lineup like the 2018 Accord Hybrid and 2019 Insight to represent the next-generation of Honda vehicles. The Japanese brand is aiming for electrified vehicle sales to account for two-thirds of global sales by 2030, an ambitious goal.

The Clarity Fuel Cell in particular comes with a number of incentives for buyers who are hesitant to finally make the plunge into the electrified market. It will be available to lease at $369 per month with $2,868 due at signing, with California customers eligible for a $5,000 rebate and access to the single occupant HOV lanes.
Unlike most leases, you’ll be able to travel with the Clarity Fuel Cell extensively: the annual mileage allowance is a whopping 20,000 miles, nearly double that of most conventional leased cars. Other perks include 24/7 roadside assistance and 21 days of access to an Avis luxury vehicle.
“Customers interested in being part of the electrified future have a great choice with the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell,” said Steven Center, vice president of Connected and Environmental Business Development at American Honda Motor Co., Inc. “Hondas approach is to create electrified vehicles that people want to drive—with appealing styling, a premium and spacious cabin, and an engaging driving performance.”
