2019 Audi A6, Q8 Earn Top Safety Pick Awards from IIHS

Two of Audi’s latest models, the 2019 A6 and 2019 Q8, pulled down top honors from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The Audi A6, thanks to the LED Matrix and HD Matrix Design headlights offered on the Premium Plus and Prestige models, earned the 2019 Top Safety Pick+ — the highest honor the IIHS hands out for safety. With the HD Matrix Design LED lighting package, the Q8 earned the 2019 Top Safety Pick.

The Audi A6 and Q8 both earned scores of “Good” in all six phases of IIHS crash testing, including the passenger-side small overlap frontal test. Both also earned ratings of “Superior” for front crash prevention thanks to Audi pre sense front. This technology can apply the brakes automatically at speeds of up to 52 mph for pedestrians and cyclists and speeds of 155 mph for vehicles to avoid or mitigate a crash.
The A6 earned a score of “Good” for the Premium Plus and Prestige models’ Matrix-design LED headlights with high-beam assistant, which provides good visibility on straight roads and around curves while producing little in the way of glare. A score of “Good” for headlights is required to earn the Top Safety Pick+. With an “Acceptable” score for headlights, the Q8 qualified for the Top Safety Pick, joining the 2019 Audi A3 and A4.
