The new 2019 Ford Everest is making its debut in South Africa, offering several upgrades over the outgoing SUV. Chief among the improvements with the Everest is the inclusion of the 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo and Single Turbo engines that joined the new Ranger lineup.

“The Everest has given Ford an important foothold in the SUV segment, which continues to grow in South Africa and around the world as buyers opt for versatile, family-oriented vehicles that suit their active lifestyles,” said Doreen Mashinini, General Manager Marketing at Ford Motor Company of Southern Africa.

“As with the new Ranger, we are delighted to introduce the new-generation 2.0-liter Bi-Turbo and Single Turbo engines to the Everest range, paired with the advanced new 10-speed automatic transmission — a combination that sets new benchmarks for performance and efficiency in this segment.”

The 2019 Ford Everest boasts a refreshed exterior that includes a new tri-bar grille, a more aggressive lower bumper, 20-inch wheels for the Everest Limited, and a renewed focus on color and contrast that amplifies the sophistication of its presentation. On the inside, it gets improved materials and a new Ebony color scheme, and a new shifter design for the 10-speed automatic.

Building on the new engine options are several ride-improving enhancements to the suspension. This includes a larger and stiffer front stabilizer bar that’s’ been moved to the rear of the front axle for optimal performance, lower front spring rates, and three damper settings.

From a tech perspective, the new Everest gets SYNC 3 with Navigation on the XLT and Limited trims, which includes Tracks4Africa navigation and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. SYNC 3 also gives the Everest Waze capabilities. The XLT and Limited trims also get standard Passive Entry and Passive Start technology.
