2019 Mitsubishi Outlander an IIHS Top Safety Pick Yet Again
Fate declares the 2019 Mitsubishi Outlander an IIHS Top Safety Pick once again. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety awarded the compact SUV with the accolade for the sixth year in a row this week.

When armed with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights, the 2019 Outlander notched good ratings in all crash tests, a superior rating in front crash prevention, and an “Acceptable” rating in the headlights assessment.
Mark Chaffin, Chief Operating Officer for Mitsubishi Motors North America, said that the automaker goals itself on the dependability of each of its vehicles by engineering quality safety features into each model to give consumers an intoxicating choice.
“Earning the IIHS Top Safety Pick is a key reason for customers to place the Outlander at the top of their shopping list, proving it one of the most competitive vehicles in the incredibly popular compact SUV segment,” Chaffin said.
Its advanced safety features speak for themselves. The 2019 Mitsubishi SEL Touring package includes Blind Spot Warning with Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist, Forward Collision Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Automatic High Beam headlights.

To be considered a Top Safety Pick, a vehicle must demonstrate good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, moderate overlap front, side, roof strength and head restraint tests. Additionally the car must post an advanced or a superior rating in front crash prevention evaluations and achieve an acceptable or good rating in the passenger-side small overlap front test.
