2019 Volkswagen Jetta Makes Bold Showing at North American International Auto Show
Making its world debut at the North American International Auto Show, the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta proves that improving on a classic is definitely possible. The compact sedan, a consistent best-seller for Volkswagen, boasts a bold design with an expansive front grille, a fast-sloping roof, shorter overhangs, and chrome accents. The 2019 Jetta features a more athletic exterior and a more spacious interior, as well.

“We expect that this all-new car will continue to resonate with buyers in the compact sedan class. With its combination of great technology, fuel-efficient drivetrains, sporty styling, upscale interior and amenities, and fun-to-drive nature, we expect that the Jetta will make a huge splash in the compact sedan market when it goes on sale,” said Hinrich J. Woebcken, CEO of the North American Region, Volkswagen.
The 2019 Jetta is available in four trims – S, SE, SEL, and SEL Premium – and is engineered on the automaker’s notable MQB architecture and is equipped with a 1.4-liter TSI engine. You have the choice between an eight-speed automatic or six-speed manual transmission. The Jetta’s powertrain generates 147 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, “the highest in the compact sedan class,” reports Volkswagen.
“Automatic transmission models come standard with a Start/Stop system designed to improve fuel efficiency. This technology stops the engine during idle when the brake pedal is held (such as when waiting at a stop light). When the brake pedal is released, the engine restarts,” according to Volkswagen.
Even though the 2019 Jetta is bigger inside and out, sportier, and bolder than its most recent predecessor, it cost less – approximately $18,545 less.
A smaller price tag doesn’t mean the 2019 Jetta lacks in innovative technology either; it includes a standard rearview camera and the extensive suite of available driver assistance features such as Lane Departure Warning (Lane Assist), Blind Spot Monitor with Rear Traffic Alert, Forward Collision Warning and Autonomous Emergency Braking (Front Assist), High Beam Control (Light Assist), and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Opt for the available Volkswagen Car-Net® system for easily staying connected on the go through Apple CarPlay™, MirrorLink®, and Android Auto™.
“The new Jetta is the first Volkswagen in the U.S. to offer an available 400-watt BeatsAudio® system,” according to Volkswagen.
