Updates Coming to the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Chevrolet Silverado is a legendary pickup truck that just keeps getting better. For 2020, the Silverado 1500 will receive some exciting new features and bid farewell to some options. Here’s a closer look at what’s new on the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
Get the Truck You Need: The Chevrolet 1500, 2500, and 3500
Trailering is about to get a little easier thanks to the 2020 Silverado 1500’s new Vertical Trailering Mirrors. The Silverado is also set to receive Adaptive Cruise Control as a part of its Safety Package II suite of driver-assist technologies. Interestingly, Chevrolet hasn’t said a peep about the six-function tailgate that the 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 is rumored to be getting — that feature might be limited to the Silverado HD.
The new 10-speed transmission is now standard on both 4WD High Country models equipped with the 5.3-liter EcoTec3 V8 and the LT Trail Boss. The trucks cameras have also received some attention — namely, the Technology Package will now include a Bed View Camera, while HD Surround Vision will now feature two trailer camera provisions. And thanks to an option on the Convenience Package, you’ll also be able to delete the Silverado 1500’s pickup bed for even more versatility.
For the 2020 model year, the Silverado 1500 will no longer be available in Oakwood Metallic — so act fast if you dream of owning a giant, tan, muscular pickup truck. We’ll also say goodbye to the High Country Premium Package, which isn’t a huge loss — it offered all of the same features as the High Country Deluxe package, except with a different wheel design. Chevy also plans to cut the WT Appearance Package, which adds some chrome and silver accents to the base-trim Silverado 1500. Instead, you’ll be able to order these accents individually.
