The crown jewel of the Chevrolet performance lineup is ready to do a bit of shining in the Middle East. Nearly a year after the first examples rolled out across the United States, the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray at long last launches in one of the world’s hottest markets for premium performance vehicles.

“We are confident that it will appeal to enthusiasts in the Middle East and exceed their expectations, especially at the price point,” said General Motors Middle East & Africa Chief Marketing Officer Kelly MacDonald. “It’s our flagship model and we are excited to present it to Corvette loyalists across the region.”

The 2020 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray launches in the Middle East exclusively with the Z51 Performance Package, enabling the insanely fast sub-three-second 0-60 mph and a maximum output of 495 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. That means it carries a tidy starting price of $86,500, still a bargain against the cost of other cars with similar performance metrics.

Chevy offers the 2020 Corvette Stingray for the Middle East in a dozen different colors, including new Rapid Blue, Zeus Bronze, and Accelerate Yellow. Inside, there are six different interior themes to choose from as well as — get this — six seat belt colors. If folks weren’t already sold on going 0-60 in under three seconds, the range of seat belt customization probably cinches it.

Chevrolet has had no trouble turning its eighth-generation Corvette into an American sensation. The response to the new Stingray was so overwhelming that, coupled with the struggles of COVID-19, Chevy has had to push back some 2020 model-year pre-orders to 2021. That hasn’t stopped Chevrolet from putting the 2021 Corvette Stingray up for grabs, conveniently offered at the same price as the 2020.

The eighth-gen Corvette has also proven to be quite a winner when it comes to awards, picking up titles like Popular Mechanics’ Car of the Year and 2020 North American Car of the Year.
