For the 2020 model year, the beloved Mazda CX-5 will be receiving some updates to its gas-powered models.

Just about every trim level got a minor makeover. Here’s a look at the changes you can expect to find.

The Newest Name in Luxury: Premium Mazda Features

Trim level tweaks

At every trim level, the Mazda CX-5 received a few aesthetic tweaks. It now comes with a redesigned key fob and exterior badging in a different font.

The Mazda CX-5 Sport just became even safer thanks to the now-standard full suite of i-Activsense driver-assist technology, which includes Mazda Radar Cruise Control, Adaptive Front Lighting, the Lane Departure Warning System, High Beam Control and Forward Obstruction Warning. It can even help to prevent or mitigate an accident with Smart City Brake Support, which helps to prevent or mitigate rear-end collisions. Plus, the CX-5 Sport also gains rain-sensing windshield wipers and automatic headlights.

The Touring trim doesn’t gain any new equipment, but the Grand Touring model now has paddle shifters.

If you’re looking for a truly extravagant CX-5, you’ll love the updates to the Grand Touring Reserve and the Signature trim levels. They boast the more powerful turbocharged engine, along with an 8-inch touch screen and an Engine Harmonics Enhancer that delivers a satisfying, full-bodied growl straight from under the hood.

2020 Mazda CX-5 models are expected to arrive in dealerships by late 2019 to early 2020.

Other Mazda CX-5 models

The automaker hasn’t released details about updates to the diesel-powered Mazda CX-5, since it’s on a different release cycle. Details should arise in the next few months. However, it’s likely that the diesel models will receive fairly similar upgrades.
