With the 760-horsepower Mustang Shelby GT500 rightfully soaking up lots of folks’ attention, it’s shockingly easy to forget that the Shelby GT350 is still out there blowing people’s minds — and that there’s going to be a 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R. Forgetting about this neat little beast would be a shame given the upgrades Ford’s making for the new year — up to and including a revised front suspension, improved electric power steering, and a buncha new colors.

“It’s always been our plan to take the latest innovations from the GT500 program and strategically apply them across the Mustang lineup,” said Ed Krenz, Ford Performance chief program engineer. “These latest updates to the GT350R keep its performance competitive and on the top if its game, whether that’s on the track or on the street.”

The 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R gets a redesigned high-trail steering knuckle that’s borrowed from the GT500, joining improvements like new geometry for the front suspension, a new steering rack, and removed exhaust resonators that help cut weight while creating an even more ferocious exhaust note.

Though weight savings and performance are the key points of focus for the new Mustang Shelby GT350R, there’s plenty in the way of smarts. The GT350R gets standard FordPass Connect, and its available Technology Package adds in the 12-speaker B&O premium sound system as well as voice-activated navigation and Cobra Puddle Lamps.

And just to help make the 2020 Mustang Shelby GT350R look even sharper, Ford is now offering it in the fun and vibrant Grabber Lime and Twister Orange colors as well as new Iconic Silver and Red Hot Metallic.

2020 is fixing to be a mighty fine year if you love the Mustang. Get ready, folks.
