The 2020 Toyota RAV4 has officially joined Toyota Canada’s lineup of 2020 models with a new TRD Off-Road model certified to bust trails. It joins a rugged and extensive lineup of RAV4 models, which is now offered at 11 trim levels, including five hybrid models and two models specially tuned to handle off-road challenges.

Compared to the 2019 RAV4, the 2020 model gets a $200 price increase and a few new technologies such as standard Android Auto smartphone compatibility, which Toyota was previously reluctant to include, and SiriusXM satellite radio.

The RAV4 TRD Off-Road is certainly the most noteworthy addition to the SUV lineup, which builds on the Toyota RAV4 TRAIL to deliver even more capability. It comes with 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in Falken all-terrain tires, LED fog lamps, off-road-tuned suspension, special TRD badging, a JBL sound system with 11 speakers, built-in navigation and various connected services.

Because it builds on the RAV4 TRAIL, it also boasts dynamic torque vectoring with a disconnecting rear driveline, up to 1,590 kg or 3,500 lb of maximum towing capacity, heated and ventilated seats, a wireless charging system for compatible electronic devices, and an 8-inch touch-screen display and 7-inch multi-information display.

“Toyota invented a brand-new vehicle segment when it first introduced the RAV4, and we’ve made it more fun and more stylish with every new generation,” said Cyril Dimitris, Vice President of Toyota Canada. “The TRD Off-Road model introduces new capability to RAV4 — and joins a line-up that gives Canadians many reasons to love this compact SUV.”
