Tara Monroe has taken to Texas streets in a Barbie Jeep after a DWI got her license suspended
Let’s begin by simply saying—getting a DWI is not cool in any way, shape, or form. Not only is it a big black mark on your record, but it is also a huge danger to you and everyone around you. But for one underage Texas State student, getting a DWI was just the beginning.
Tara Monroe, an industrial engineering junior at Texas State, recently had her license automatically suspended after refusing a breathalyzer test when driving home from a Waka Flocka concert. After having her license suspended, her father drove to San Marcos from Kingwood, stripping her of her vehicle, and leaving her a bike to get around.
But, according to Tara, “Riding a bike around campus sucks. Like really sucks.”

To remedy her lack of vehicle—and her sucky form of replacement transportation—Monroe took matters into her own hands. After checking out some ads on the local Craigslist, she found exactly what she was looking for—a hot pink Barbie Jeep worth only $60.

Since getting the Jeep, Monroe has rolled around the University of Texas at Austin’s West Campus and Texas State, leaving a wake of pictures on social media behind her.

Along with losing her license, the 5-foot-3, 20-year-old was also stuck with a $3,000 bond, according to Hays County Jail records.
Despite the major negative side of her situation, Monroe has turned it around and is planning on taking her sweet ride out with her when she celebrates her 21st birthday.
