Nissan Committed to American Manufacturing
While Nissan is a Japanese brand, it is proud to manufacture vehicles here in America. To celebrate its record American sales year in 2015, with 1,484,918 cars sold, Nissan also announced that they had a record year building cars in the United States as well, assembling 962,373 vehicles. In 2015, production of Nissan’s most important vehicles in North America, the Nissan Versa, Murano, LEAF, Maxima, Sentra, Pathfinder, Rogue, Altima, and TITAN were all increased at its facilities. While Nissan is proud of its success, it has plans to continue investing in the United States to grow that number in 2016 and beyond.

According to an infographic released to celebrate 2015’s good results, 79.5% of Nissan and Infiniti vehicles sold in the United States were built in North America. Its largest facility in Smyrna, Tennessee employs more than 8,400 people. Nissan’s corporate headquarters in America is in Franklin, Tenessee, which is very close to Smyrna and employs 1,700 people. In total, there are four Nissan plants in the United States, plus the Nissan Motor Acceptance Corporation in Texas and Nissan Technical Center North America in Michigan. In total, that’s 22,000 employees with more than $1.1 billion in annual payroll feeding into local economies.

Since 1981, Nissan has invested more than $10.8 billion in its American manufacturing facilities, and it is showing no signs of slowing down. The brand is also very proud that it has not had to make any layoffs in its over 30 years of service in the United States.
