After five years, some cars just hold their value better than others. Two vehicles leading the way in the resale value competition are the well-equipped and popular Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and Jeep Wrangler.

Securing the top two spots on the recent iSeeCars.com study to determine which cars hold their value the best after five years, the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (in the number one spot) boasts an average 5-year depreciation percentage of 30.0 percent, and the Jeep Wrangler is close behind with a 31.5 percent average 5-year depreciation percentage rate.

“Jeep Wranglers are known for retaining their value for reasons including their ruggedness, durability, and iconic design,” said iSeeCars CEO Phong Ly. “Because of Jeep’s loyal following, their demand outstrips supply in the used car marketplace leading to high resale values.”

Approximately 7.7 million new and used car sales were studied to determine the rankings in the iSeeCars.com study. Resale value is an important consideration for buyers who regularly upgrade their ride.

“While the average new vehicle loses nearly half of its value after five years, there are vehicles that retain more of their value and depreciate less than average,” said Ly. “For consumers who purchase new vehicles and sell them after five years, choosing a car that holds its value is a smart economic decision.”
